Which superhero is actually faster is a moot point; Superman could beat the snot out of the Flash in almost any competition. He doesn't like to fly in his civies because they tend to burn up at the speed Superman is easily capable of flying. Damn, I wish I still had all the DC Superman comic books I bought in the fifties; they'd be worth a bloody fortune.

P.S. I think we all know these are only fictional characters, thank you very much!

Also probably for aerodynamics. I'm sure DarkCrow can chime in with his expertise on the subject. The drag caused by his civilian clothes would probably slow down his 1/4 time significantly.

the speedo suit by superman is all aerodynamics, otherwise they wouldn't be able to get away with looking so rediculous!

If you recall, when superman landed on earth he had super powers as a child, long before his mother ever made the suit for him.

 

Nothing matches the aerodynamics of Mystique's painted on blue suit!
