it, he can have my car. I am fully insured and am not willing to risk my life, or the life of the thug over a car. This isn't my first car, nor will it be my last. I guess it is all perspective.

ABSOLUTELY!!! This is nuts. I can't believe that people agree with his actions!! Not appropriate!! Under any circumstances. Believe me, if the damages that this guy inflicted are as serious as he says...(almost killed him) then this guy is going away to prison for a while. Don't kid yourself. What this guy did was stupid... This is excessive force, any lawyer will point that out to you.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad he caught the guy that was going to steal his car. And no, I ain't chicken shit. I have also caught a person that broke into my car, and detained him until the cops got there. However, I understand the legal implications of my actions and know enough not to cross the line.. What this guy did, was cross the line....

Americans wonder why they have such a problem with violence? Cause you advocate it any chance you get with the misconception of "its my right to protect"!.. Wrong, the law in most states does not allow you or even police to use excessive force in this type of situation.

Its a pity that soo many people on this site and the original posting site agree with what this guy did. He is bragging about almost killing a man. He is not even smart enough NOT to post it on a website that may be viewed by the public and used against him later in litigation.. What an idiot... I could not disagree more with his actions. Shame....

Yeah, we should just say "bad car thief, bad!" and send him to prison for further training.

These days the civil liabities are so astronomical I would've just stayed in my locked house and called cops.

I've been in some really tight situations and I look back at them to thank my rational side.

A buddy of mine from H.S. is bankrupt and had his home foreclosed upon because he tripped a shoplifter at a inner city gas station while he escaped. Turns out shoplifter was 16 and the fall did some "damage" to his juvenile back. So much for the Homestead Act. My buddy is living with his parents and his wages are garnished paying for some lawyered-up thug to sit on his arse all day and play video games.

Ahhh the land of the free.

If it can be avoided, violence really doesn't solve anything.

I agree w/ Young R though...if someone's in my house they will be meeting Mr Ruger.

Believe it!!

I support the actions of this young man 100%.

I only wish he would have been able to give the same beating to all of those thieves.

Even if the thief died, I wouldn't feel one bit bad about it.

agree with above about the guy suing.

I'm surrounded by attorneys and we just had this topic the other day with a law professor, personal injury attorney, one attorney who worked for the Supreme court clerk and 4 more attorneys (all friends and one being my girlfriend). Great drinking buddies.

The guy who got beat up can sue for whatever he wants and probably end up getting that much.

The only way you can get away with it was if it was a breaking and entry you literally throw him/her out the window and tell the cop that the intruder just jumped out the window. OR it would actually be better if you were to literally kill the other person so they cannot defend themselves, especially if you are an upstanding professional that the jury would rather believe you then them.

if a intruder has a weapon and you feel your life in danger... you can defend yourself.
