Precisely. If you and your SO have an agreement about either/both having sex with people outside of the relationship, that's not cheating. There's a difference between not being faithful to your partner and exploring your sexual identity.

 

Like I said, having a consensual, open relationship is different from cheating, and since this thread is about cheating then your hypothesis is not relevant to the topic at hand. Cheating is when you do something to betray the trust and implied fidelity that is expected in a committed relationship. Cheating is something that, by default, makes you scum.

If you and your SO have previously granted permission to have sex with others, then that's not cheating. It's just an "unconventional" relationship.

just curious, why is that arguable if it's healthy or not? If the two people that are in that situation are happy... who's to argue about it? It's non of anybody elses business but the 2 people involved only those two can decide whether or not it is healthy for them.... just sayin. You are right, it would not be cheating but seems people like to make that judgement about cheating until that situation happens to them.... and no I'm not saying you are judging.

not being judgmental, just in my own life experiences I've never seen a relationship like that which was actually healthy... all of them I've seen failed miserably. if people can actually make that work, more power to them.
