yep we dont' know the whole story.. who knows how long the scene was. depending on the director's style the scene could have been 10-15 min long on single camera..
I would be pissed off as well. and from the sound of it, the Shayne was talking back at him. F* that. cut that MotherF* er up American Psycho style.

At the end of the day, the guy is still a person and doesn't deserve that kind of abuse from anyone.
The guy should've paid attention though, as having people in the background doesn't help anything. Working in Hollywood as a lights guy, he should know that.
Ahh well... I'll still see the movie and CB will still be richer than me. I'm just glad he's not into Scientology and jumping up and down on Oprah.
i dont know how many of you ever really prepped a scene either as production or an actor.
You can spend weeks rigging a scene or even a single shot as a production person. as an actor if you are deep in your character (again, those of you who dont know about acting wont get this) and someone forces you to break character then it can totaly ruin the shot or the scene or the entire day.
this can cost valuable time and many thousands of dollars.
I can very easily see where he could get that wound up over the incident ESPECIALLY if it happened more than once or this guy messed up somewhere else during the course of their time together.
it comes across as raw to us and Bale over-reacting but he probably saved money in the process and that guy will now have a crystal clear view of what not to do in that kind of situation. This experience (whether he now hates bale or not) made him a better DP again making the situation ultimately better IMHO.
change the situation a little bit and make Bale a race car driver at the INDY 500 and the DP a pitcrew guy that squaks into the radio and says some random crap during the race that causes Bale to pit uneccessarily. Does Bale now have the right to be VERY VERY upset....you bet your ass he does. That pit may cost him the race.
you guys lambasting Bale need to get your head around the situation a little more. We all get fed tirades like this all the time and we end up thinking that these actors are bratty littel bitches when in fact some if not most of the time they have legitimate reasons for flipping their lids.
Not in all cases, but in this one Bale had a legit gripe to make.

Soooo ... all of you who were against Bale would not be pissed if you prepped for work just to have someone screw it up?
Say you're an auto painter who is almost done with prepping the paint just to have your co-worker spill milk in it. ...
Or how about you've spent a week prepping a wedding cake for a client just to have your co-worker accidentally put his hand into it ...
I'm sure you guys wouldnt be super pissed right .....

If one of the assistants to the DP ****ed a shot when THEY were doing work, I guarantee you the DP would rip the assistant a new asshole. Only difference is none of the general public would hear about it.
I've heard the story from a couple outlets that the guy he was yelling at was the most reviled guy on the set. If that's the case, then Bale probably did what everyone wanted him to do. Having listened to it, it's not immediately apparent the Shayne guy is that disliked since someone seems to come to try and diffuse the situation.
Actually, that guy will be lucky to still be employed after that. A friend of mine has worked several sets and basically if you as an individual do something that botches a day's work or costs someone a ton of already hard fought money, you are gone, and if you aren't removed on the spot, you can basically consider it the last work you do. It seems reputations are ruined faster in Hollywood than in most other places, at least from the stories I've heard. Having a really hot star go off on you certainly won't help, and even more especially in this YouTube era where the nation now knows your name.
