Christian Bale loses it
It doesn't matter how MUCH work there was, a whole 4 mins of flaming is simply unacceptable. Absolutely no professionalism showed in here. He could have said in a more serious and quieter tone.

having worked with musicians on various things, I can testify that this isn't only an acting thing.
when your time is a lot of money, and you only have a couple times to run through things, and stupid shit that shouldn't happen happens, you can bet someone's going to say something.
is it 5 minutes worth? I don't know, I can't be the judge of that.
but I will say this: growing up, when I screwed up, you can bet your ass my dad would open up on me, sometimes to what I may have thought as excessive. maybe at the time I hated it, but looking back, it was for the better.
and lets not forget that when you're filming, you're exposing film, which isn't cheap.

I agree.
I honestly do not understand how anyone can see it any differently than this.
Do some of you really elevate celebrity to such status you find this acceptable?
Primo I just don't get you at all. Regardless of how much 'work' acting is Bale showed the least professionalism.

i do know however what it is like in that kind of environment. I have seen much bigger tirades from directors, head electricians, etc... that last (on and off) all day sometimes.
is it excessive? maybe
is it understandable? you betcha
we are seeing a microscope slide of the whole situation.
Look, I am not going sit here and say he acted perfectly, but I am not going to judge him on this either. I can see where events could have lead up to this outburst and i was simply brining a different perspective to all these people villifying him over something that they may know nothing about.
Having been in this type of environment I can tell you that tensions are always high "on set".

I personally wouldn't take Bale's shit if it was me, and I would've just tossed him a bone or something and had him talk to my back as I walked away from him. That or done something else to antagonize the crap out of him, like sit there and critique his outburst like a movie critic. Maybe Bale was being an ass, but I can bet there are many high-level managers out there that have done this to someone in their office before. In fact, I used to work for someone that showed shades of this, and was lucky enough not to have had to deal with it directly.
I think they should have hired me instead

Seriously though, when you've worked so hard to get into character and someone comes along and f**ks up your concentration, not once, but multiple times, it can take a while to get that back.
Was his rant excessive? Maybe. But he's being paid extremely well for his role and the studio execs are expecting his best and he wants to deliver that. So when people are depending on you and someone you had no control of f**ks a scene up more than once, you get make sure he doesn't do it again.
