DirecTV and Dish network package prices work out to be about the same. Directv commitment is 6 months longer if you do HD package.

When I dropped DirecTv for some serious screwups I had fulfilled my commitment by over 7 months. They still charged my credit card somewhere around $200 for early disconnection, and it took three months and a lawsuit filed to get it back. Did not go to court, but that is what it took for a refund.

They got all apologetic and kept begging me on the phone "What will it take to win you back?"
