Default Computer problem....Help!!

I came home and logged on to the net last night, and I could log in OK with my ATT Worldnet account but after logging in, the Internet Explorer browser wouldn't open, so I couldn't surf the net even though I already logged in. Everytime I tried to open the internet explorer browser, a pop up window showed up saying error or something. I clicked the "send report". the browser still didn't work. I looked at the error detail and it said something like:

error signature:
appname:iexplore.exe
appver 6.0.2800.1106
modname: mskz.dll
modver:0.0000
offset:000143ce

I then tried to install netsape and window xp wouldn't let me install it ! I give up. anybody here knows what I need to do? thanks.

I cannot find any file called mskz.dll on my PC. I'm going to assume that it's an add-on of some description, possibly even part of some spyware application. I'd grab a copy of Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com) or SpyBot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org) and run a scan over your machine to check that it's not some bit of spyware that's crashing.

In addition this may help too: http://www.techimo.com/forum/t98806.html

No trouble. For future reference you can save all that information automatically by using the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in XP (it's a bit hidden, look in Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Files and Settings Transfer Wizard).
