What will you be using the laptop for and how much do you have to spend on a laptop?

I got a laptop last August, 2.6Ghz, I'd highly consider weight, so you might shoot for the M processor.

I didn't think it was that big of a deal, but having something 6 pounds on your lap for an hour isn't very comfortable.

You know me Jerry, I want the BEST. I don't care how much it cost, as long as it last me for 2-3 years, and I'm Happy. I will be using it for Database, Quickbooks,
Internet surfing, and merchants account.

If you aren't playing cutting edge games then there is absoutely no reason to get a 3.0 chip. Just get a 2.4 or even a 1.8 will do and look for the highest bus speed. Then stock up on the fastest memory you can buy and get the fastest hard drive with a nice fat buffer.

I'd also look into a Pentium M chip over a Pentium 4 chip for mobile purposes. In addition to weight, the longer battery life is a big plus. I'm particularly fond of the IBM T40 line, with up to 8 hours of use using the extended battery + ultrabay battery. all in a very slim form factor with built in wireless and enough performance for most non-gaming purposes. A 1.7Ghz Pentium M can achieve the same performance as a 2.4-2.8Ghz Pentium 4 depending on if you're plugged into the wall and what application is being run.

As for screen size, give your application needs, I'd say go for as large of a screen and as high of a resolution as you can get on the model that you're looking at.
