[quote name='AlanP' date='Feb 10 2005, 07:20 PM'] I would mount your gun on the floor, in between the clutch and the brake.

Not trying to take this thread any further off-topic than it already is.. but oh well

After reviewing this thread I am personally pondering the idea of purchasing a new more compact handgun. I have heard numerous good things regarding the H&K, SIG, and Glock Pistols. However i need something that is really compact with not much recoil, please do keep in mind i'm 5'6" 125lbs with very small hands. I need something that I will feel comfortable with.

You have an XD. How about it's little brother?

I had a HS2000, which is now the XD before Springfield put their name on it. The gun was made in Croatia. Mine had "Croatia" on the slide and it was distributed through Intrac. I guess Springfield bought the rights to it and is now manufacturing them in IL. I bought mine brand new for $325 out the door. Back then they just had the 4" 9mm model. I really like their new compact though.

Anyway, I thought it was a great pistol. Very accurate and mine never jammed. I probably put over 1,000 rounds through it in 6 months going to the range every weekend. I've since sold it and I'm now pistol-less. I originally bought a pistol because a friend of mine got me into shooting one day after going to the range with him. I never really bought it for self defense. I sold it because it's become a pain in the arse to move around with me being in the Air Force. I actually sold it to my friend who got me into shooting.

Oh well then I guess it wouldn't make sense to buy another one.

I thought you had a 4" or 5" model.

Personally, I'd keep what you have. It's small enough. The Glock is not much smaller, if any and is overpriced IMO. Plus, the XD's have two great safety features (grip and trigger safeties). I don't think you have to worry about it misfiring unless you actually picked it up and pulled the trigger, which I guess wouldn't be considered a misfire.

The greatest safety feature is your brain...

Don't be daft. You brain isn't going to stop a bullet much bigger than a .22 and it'll make an awful mess.
