maybe the daughter shot her mother.
maybe the police is a trigger happy SOB.

can't judge until you have all the facts.
What? YOu want to interefere with my right as a citizen to jump to conclusions?

I don't think all cops are bad. I think there are a decent percentage on a power trip.

And the great many take themselves wayyyyyyy to seriously. A girl I know who is an officer in a quiet well to do suburb refers to everyone else as "civilians" and tells her sister "You don't know what it is like putting your life on the line every day." She sees speeders, and occasional domestic dispute, and shoplifters. Wow. DEADLY.

But I think a conversation I had with our chief of the state patrol puts it into perspective. I had a friend that wanted to get into the patrol, but he was mid thirties and did not have a law enforcement degree or background and was not sure he would make a good candidate. She told me about a program they had for guys like him and said to me "John, law enforcement has a lot of folks who want to do good things and help people. Unfortunately it also attracts a lot of people who want to carry a gun, drive fast, and push people around. We find that getting older more mature candidates helps us weed out some of that." I thought that was fairly telling coming from the chief of the state patrol.

pretty low-income thankless job where you deal with nothing but asshats and people who hate you all day long... unsurprising that it attracts people for the one perk of the job... power.

Sucidial or not, if some crazy ***** points a gun at me, she's going down hard. I'll side the cop on this one...

As for the mother, no idea how that happened -- we need more facts
The daughter is not the issue, obviously thats an ok reaction. The issue here is the mother which is why everyone is saying cops are trigger happy.

lol thats pretty funny. Its probably in part the bs they feed them in training. I know the marines are different, but when my buddies were going through boot camp, I remember how pumped up they got and would tell everyone that they knew all this combat training/a move to kill someone in a few seconds ect, ect. Now that they have been doing it for a while (stationed) they hate it.

Both of my parents were cops, my dad retiring after 33 years as a Lieutenant Supervisor, and was only making mid $60k.... I was security forces in the USAF and my parents did a good job of talking me out of being a Police Officer after I was discharged. Nobody likes the police except for when they do something good for them... which most peoples experiences are just traffic tickets and such, so the majority of people hate cops..... Kinda sad... Though I'll agree there are some jerkoffs on a power trip out there who are cops too... and they certainly dont help the situation

i've never met a marine who wasn't totally full of him(her)self. i don't blame them, their training = brainwashing. you want soldiers who are fearless and totally confident.

cops on the other hand ... they don't train them to be full of themselves. the job attracts people who are *already* full of themselves.

Cops have earned their reputation and deserve the reputation they have earned. Prance around all day thinking you are above the law and treating good people badly will get you nothing but disrespect. If someone spits in a cops face, chances are he deserves it and provoked it.

I have to say, although cops and I arent on the best terms...I love em. seriously, what are you gonna do if you see someone waving a gun around?! obviously call the cops - I respect them for that. I have run into both good and bad cops - the good ones make you understand that youre wrong - the bad ones just make you hate them cuz they're asshats.
