There was a NJ state trooper who recently got off a manslaughter charge when he ran a stop sign (35 mph zone) going close to 80, without braking, and slammed into a minivan with two teenage girls in it. Killed both the girls, and he was chasing a speeder...

http://www.expertlaw.com/library/criminal/...charges.html#Q2

Says a Civil Infraction is NOT a crime, and as I stated it can and will vary by state. Yes depending on threshold, the degree of the charge will also vary depending on the threshold.

Some "Moving Violations" can fit either category, then again, depending ont he threshold.

Criminal Offenses carry a criminal record, which is separate from a driving record. Minor Traffic Infractios, in most cases, are not classified as criminal, but depending on the degree, can vary.

If i'm wrong, plz link me some reading so I can educate my mistaken view.

Its true, out here on Cali they always look for more and more ways to F us on the road, but just imagine how much its gonna F them right back when minor shit does become real criminal offenses and they lock up every single speeder and sign roller. Prisons will be swamped with small bullshit and the real murders and rapists will just be set free because the minor guys will be more profitable. Not to mention the cost of such cases "IF" they because largely criminal.

Yes... very unfortunate case and is becomming more common place. Yet another reason I seriously do not trust or like cops. That LEO should be behind bars for manslaughter, no questiosn asked. If he didnt have a badge, he would be on death row as we speak.

Speeding

Failure to Stop

Vehicular Manslaughter

God its gotta be great to have a badge, you can get away with anything.

You know, I was watching GangLand lastnight, and its amazing how much respect the Fresno Popo have for the Bulldogs... I wonder why. I wish this dumb pig had done it to one of their family and was later found shot in the face.

Ya know if he had killed a criminal who just robbed a bank or raped a woman, thats fine. But this moron killed 2 innocent civilians because he was a moron... and all so he could write a speeding ticket, alittle behind on our quota are we?

I was watching some of the prosecutors testimony, they used the data recorded in the officer's cruiser, and it showed as he was approaching the stop sign, he did in fact tap the breaks, but thats it, he just tapped it, like three times, but maintained a speed of about 70-80, like 3 seconds before he crashed into the car.

Now I have a lot of respect for most city cops, like Philadelphia police. A 25 year old officer was shot in the chest with a .357 by a career criminal, because the guy was trying to rob a cabbie near Olney Transportation Center, 1 block from my apartment at the time. Killed the cop, and for what? Poor guy was 25 years old, with a kid on the way. That is not fair.

But a trooper, who should know better, flying through suburban street signs at 75 mph? For what, a 100 dollar speeding ticket that would most likely get bumped down anyway? That's wrong on so many levels.

I totally agree with you in these cases. The cop that was killed protecting the cabbie, I feel very bad for this officer and have nothing but respect for him.

However, the cop who killed the two girls... I do not care for.

Effin hate Jersey cops in my area (Hunterdon county). They wouldn't last a week in Philly, they'd be shitting themselves having to deal with actual criminals, not 17 year olds. 17 year old kids where I went to school were robbing people at gunpoint; in my hometown they're smoking bowls at the park. I actually wrote an essay about this kind of stuff to the judge that gave me a year probation and $1000 fine for a friggin roach. They don't care though, to them justice is nothing more than a business.

Another police officer was shot in the head walking into a Dunkin Donuts that was being robbed. He didn't know it was being robbed, it was just part of his daily rounds, being that the Dunkin Donuts was 1 block away, on the other side of the street, as his PPD district HQ. Walks in, not knowing its being robbed at that moment, robber turns around, puts one in the cops head, and runs.

It gets better: The robber comes right back, grabs the cops gun, and then it turns out his family gave him a greyhound ticket to florida. They found him a week later in a homeless shelter in Miami. He's lucky he wasn't caught in Philly, he would have been shot 30 times, and he would have deserved it. The cop? Truly sad...

There was a string of these incidents over the span of 6 months or so in Philadelphia, cops getting shot for no reason. I'm not saying they are all angels, some of them are as crooked as they come. But still.
