Could this happen again?

Now that we are in the aftermath of this horrible atrocity, my biggest fear is the ease in which all of this was carried out. In a matter of hours thousands of Americans were killed by a relatively small amount of terrorist. My question and fear is that knowing what we now know whos to say that an incident of simular magnitude couldn't occur tommorow, a week from now, ect. A very scary feeling.

Yes it can definitely happen again.

What can we as indivisuals do about it?
1) do not take for granted many of the freedoms that we have because these freedoms do come with a price
2) be more aware of what is happening not only locally, but internationally- we need to understand that there are parts of the world that probably have good reason to hate the US, whether we think its right is irrelevant as their perspective is what they will operate from
3) be willing to be "inconvenienced" but tighter security levels at airports and such...no more arriving 10 minutes before the flight leaves.

Our lives will go on , but things will be alittle different.

I could not agree more. I think all of your points are very valid and everyone needs to think in this way....

Short of declaring martial-law 24/7/365, no we can't. Of course, we don't want to make it any easier for them, but we couldn't possibly stop every conceivable attack from a dedicated terrorist; particularly those who are willing to give their lives to their cause.
It sucks, but they're only limited by their imagination. It's only a matter of time until one of those groups will get their hands on a nuclear device.

The only defense would be to have a pro-active policy and go after the bastards. Unfortunately, our intelligence is not as efficient as we would like it to be.

Look here, somebody knows how to protect thier Aircraft.

A small quote...too bad we arn't worth Air Marshals.

"The defense establishment yesterday took into consideration the possibility that Israeli facilities overseas could come under attack. Embassies and consulates were closed until further notice. In some offices, security teams remained in place. El Al flights got beefed up teams of air marshals while Ben Gurion Airport's security was strengthened. "

What I'm worried about is if they attack while America is sleeping...that would be even more chaos.
