[QUOTE=Scot,Jul 29 2005, 09:49 AM] Can you name something that is made in China that is well known for being a good quality product?

I just don't see it that way. There may be a handfull of "decent" products coming from China, but the majority of it is crap.

When i go into a souvineer shop i somehow think that I am going to get something of value.... not something made by some poor chinese person who works forever just to keep their family fed.

I try to stay away from NIKE... they can pay Jordon $40M a year but then pay their employees $.25 an hour...

I think the "salad shooter" is made in china.

Sad but true.

When was the last time you bought shoes that weren't made in China excluding New Balance?
Most of mine are made in England or Italy.

I was on the swim team in college, and we always had to stop at the Cracker Barrel for food. It was gross. Thinking back, I can't tell you one food item I enjoyed eating. I usually packed a sandwich and brought it in with me. It seemed like Cracker Barrels were located every 15 miles in the south.

My dad is a huge Cracker Barrel guy. Loves the place because he is a big breakfast freak. I don't eat breakfast except when I travel with him which is maybe once or twice a year to see a Notre Dame football game. I have to say the breakfast food is pretty good if that is what you are into. Not my type of comfort food otherwise.

He did research the restaurant chain a bit because he wanted to retire and open one. Most of the stores (at the time he did his reasearch) made nearly 50% of the revenue off of the gift shop. Dunno who buys that crap. The chain went through a huge growth spurt and most of the franchisees made their over $2 million investments back in the first year. They were not so successful in my neck of the woods with a couple going under but they seem real popular in most of the midwest. Can't swing a dead cat in Wis, Ind, Ill and other states without hitting a Cracker Barrel.

Bob Evan's is another one with good greasy breakfast food. Love the home fries.

Ignorance is bliss.

A neo-conservative supporting communism. Who would have thunk?

And I think the whole child labor thing with NIKE is blown out of proportion. They have gotten much better in recent years.
