First of all, not once did I mention that I was concerned about my car...I only noted that ash was falling on it due to the close proxomity of the fire. And no, this was not meant to be a humour post, if you choose to believe that I think that way, then it would seem as though you have some growing up to do.
It's not my intent to start a flamewar here, but try to realize this:
-Out of everyone on this board, I live in the closest proximity to this fire...which by the way is growing larger, and spreading faster by the hour. Currently it is only a couple of miles from my cousins brand new house, about 5 miles from my parents house, and 15 miles from mine.
-Not once was I inconsiderate about this topic. I mearly though it would make for an interesting read for those who don't know about the forest fire situation going on in BC right now.
-I realize that my car can be replaced, not that I ever made any mention about it needing to be due to some ashes on it. I also realize that the park that I hike on, going camping at, and go on weekend wakeboarding trip to, cannot be replaced quite as easily.
You were looking for me to "Grow Up"...looks like I just did - let me know when you do
who is this l2edline kid?
he's set the unbeatable record of having an S2KI age of 0 days and has already made it on my Ignore list? (not just from this post, but some others) 21 useless postings, and you just signed up today? please forget the URL for this site. please go away.

Monkei-- I think you mis-understood mrkim19. he wasn't saying that you were overly concerned about your car, he was replying to l2edline's post saying that he hoped your S2000 is ok, when the fire threatens so many homes.
I don't think he was telling you to grow up. he was telling l2edline that.
sorry about the fires bro. that's gotta be helluh scary. let us know how things go up there.
EDIT: fyi, for future reference, so people know who you are replying to, it is often best to quote some or all of what they posted.

Just an update (if anyone cares)
The fire is now occupying over 11,000 hectares (well over 100 square kms), and still growing at an alarming rate.
When the winds are blowing, the fire spreads...When the wind are calm, the water-bombers can't fly due to extremily dense smoke...It's a downward spiral.
Currently, the winds are calm, and the entire city looks like it's in a dense fog, but smells like a campfire. Ash is falling from the sky like a light snowfall.
There are 11 Helicopters helping with the fire, numerous Water-Bombers, Firefighters from all of the surrounding cities, 85 Military Troops (with 280 more that will be here by the weekend)...and still this thing just keeps getting bigger, and even more out of control.
Pretty Scary Stuff, but definately a site to see when it gets dark.

omg man, that sounds f*cking terrifying.
have you started packing up things just in case? ya know, like atleast valuables and important paperwork?
and an escape plan of some sort too?
personally, I'd be gathering together some of my very most valuable possessions, putting them in a moving truck and taking them to one of those concrete self-storage locations, somewhere well-away from the fires. a bit of an expense for sure, but atleast some semblance of peace-of-mind.
I'm sure the prospects of losing the home has got to make it hard to sleep at night.
very best of luck to all of you up there. let's hope they can get it under control in time.

Luckily, I'm situated in an area of town that won't be affected by the fire, or at least won't be affected by the flames. There is quite a bit of city between the fire and my house. Right now the firefighters are letting the forest burn, as they concentrate all of their efforts on saving houses. Luckily nobody has lost a house yet, but more and more are being put on Evacuation Alert (my parents house just went on alert 1 hour ago).
As far as storage lockers go, they are all rented out by the people who have actually had to evaluate, and by those who are on notice.
The fire is now sitting at 13,000 hectares btw
Everytime I look out the window, it boggles my mind at how smoky it is, and how much ash is falling. You literally have about a half-mile of visability, and the city is covered in ash.
I'm actually starting to see people wearing SARS Masks as they walk around the streets.
Crazy stuff!
