DLP-- Is It Me or It Ain't All That...
Digital Light Projection... went to go see Along Came Polly and to tell you the truth, I could see major blemishes with DLPs. The picture doesn't appear clear at all. Is it just me or have you noticed the same thing?
i personally haven't had the chance to watch a movie or anything on DLP...only what i've seen at local stores..and i'm pretty impressed...
however, i can't wait till these hit primetime:
Nature.com
Organic Displays
Theyre supposed to be extremely cheap to manufacture... basically like printing from a bubble jet printer...

Back then star wars episode 2 was in theaters i saw it on regular film then on DLP. I found there to be quite a difference... There were no dust marks, or scractches that you normally see on film movies. I thought colors were also very well staurated and it produced a very natural looking picture, if i have the option to i will always watch the movie in DLP. Maybe the projector was miscalibrated or something...
Well, you know before a movie starts, there's that cartoony message asking people to buy drinks and shutting the F*ck up? Well, if you look closely next time, there's a very noticeable line around the edges of the characters with the DLP! Here in SF, there are 2 theatres with DLP and both I've noticed had the same problem with fine lines!!!

Since the resolution is so much higher, previews and intros not specifically made for DLP will show their artifacting more because they weren't made for that medium. Pure digital features like the current Star Wars films (ep2 and ep3), Pixar films or other full CG features will reap the benefits of DLP. Basically anything created through a digital medium (CG animation) or live action filmed with Hi-Def Panavision cameras can only take advantage of DLP.
In the end you're going to get a ROCK solid flicker free movie going experience, it's really amazing when you see the proper film displayed.
