do you make your bed?
And men don't put their careers ahead of their families?
Some couples choose to have an equal partnership. Why should women be responsible for the house, the children and bringing in a full-time, 2nd income when men choose to only engage in paid work outside the home? No one ever asks a guy how he manages to balance his home and work lives but it seems to be a basic expectation of women.
Sorry for the hijack.

if she wanted to work and bring in as much as i do, i'd GLADLY STAY HOME AND WATCH OPRAH!!!
on top of it all, my daughter actually goes to school full time.....so she's only looking after our son....and even THAT'S gonna change next month....he's starting pre-school.
damn, come to think of it, my wife's got quite the life...
Making the bed.
I only make it when the sheets are too disheveled to sleep under comfortably.
Wife.
My wife is at home right now. It's actually harder work than people think, small children take a lot of time and attention. My wife is excited about going back to work and I'm excited about her income, but I offered her that she could stay home if she wanted to. She usually makes the bed every morning.

Ok we are going way off topic but. I am in a similar situation as PLYRS 3.
My wife works partime(16 hours a week) for my medical practice as a marketing specialist. Otherwise, her responsibilities are to take care of the house, and our son. We have a maid that cleans the house once a week and a lawn guy. I work my butt off to provide a very comfortable lifestyle. In return she makes sure our home is clean, comfortable and a nice place for me to come home too.
It might not work for everybody, but it works for us. She has a professional degree but decided to take care of her husband and son instead. I see nothing wrong with that.

neither i, nor got, said that...both our wives stays at home.
I have too many friends who have wives that do NOTHING. Their wives have other women come to clean their house, they don't cook on a regular basis, and they put their careers ahead of their families.
)If couples choose to have a more traditional relationship where the wife stays home, so be it. I just think it's unfair for women to be held to a higher standard in some situations.

I have no idea what gotrice's personal situation is and he seemed to be referring to other people's situations. Perhaps I misinterpreted what he said:

the problem with women's lib is that they want equality (same pay, for example) and tradition (guy's opening doors, for example).
what do guys get?

Back on topic, I don't make my bed. I've never seen the point truly, sure it may make the room feel a little tidier, I have better things to spend my time on (okay, maybe the better things are spending too much time on car forums, but that's neither here nor there). Sure it takes less than 2 minutes, but over the years you are literally throwing days away messing with blankets.
