Does anyone on this board own an exotic car?

i agree, definition of the term is vague....

hyundai is a foreign car

exotic is foreign

hyundai is an exotic

there, now everyone should be happy....

i cannot remember if it was on title, registration or insurance, but one of them had type of automobile as exotic for 1 one the ferrari's i have had, will try and find it tonight when i get home.

if the government tells me so, it must be true....

back to topic of thread!!!!

someone else can own up to it, or, given the relaxed nature of the term, we can "out" hardtopguy and his NSX in this thread since a lot of folks already know about it anyway.

I don't think it is...I might be wrong, but it's a "souped up" 996 turbo right?
K24 turbos instead of the K16's (although you can get the bigger turbos on the regular TT with the X-50 option). Rear wheel drive only, no stability management, different suspension, exhaust, brakes, seats. Yes it is in many ways a worked over 911 TT, which is just a worked over 911.

Again, in my view "exotic" is multifactoral. I see folks here picking apart single factors with extreme examples -- but that's not really adding anything.

Back to the 360 issue -- is it exotic? Ehhh, I am confused on this one. Any current (modern) car that my "non exotic" car is faster than is not really exotic in my book ...

In my opinion performance has to be on par or at least close to the price of admission. This is why I don't feel the NSX is exotic, and the F360 has a toe over that line as well.

I think the definition of an exotic car has to be flexable. However there are some basic qualities that most exotics posses:
- high performance
- rare
- expensive

other factors, not quite as important:
- materials and construction
- styling
- county of origin

There will be exceptions for each quality, but if a car fits most of the criteria listed above, I'd say it qualifies as an exotic.

ya cause I would call a Saleen S7 or a Ford GT exotic. They are certainly rare and are very fast.

Ugh,

Allow me to rope this thread in, and redirect it towards its primary focus. My intent was not to start a discussion on the etymology of the word "exotic." Perhaps I should have substituted "Sweeeeet" in for exotic. My hope was to uncover those members on this site that, in addition to their S2K, also own other badass sports cars not everyone (read: most of the other members) will have the chance to experience over their life. Yes, the 360 is exotic - yes, any rare Porsche like a GT2 or even a 996 turbo is exotic. I see a fair share of them on a regular basis, and they still make me turn and look EVERY time. I don't really care what every one else's definition of "exotic" is, I just wanted to start a thread where members could come and post pictures and details of cars most of us would chop off a finger to own ! The 360 Modena, no matter how many of them you see a day (it can't be that many, there have only been 12,000 sold worldwide since its introduction), is still an exotic car. Flame away if you must, but my intentions have been made clear.....

Clayman

P.S. - Keep going with the posting of badass car pics!!

Well then the braggart in me says to post these: (not exotic if you ask me)

The color is midnight blue metallic, but with my camera and the lighting it looks black ... the large wheel gap is due to be cleaned up with a PSS9 coil-over setup on order.

This conversation is getting so lost.

You cannot buy a cheap version of the 360, but you can of the 996, so in my eyes, you'll have to step up to the Carrera GT to be truly Exotic.

No worries Keith, your Ferrari is certainly an Exotic by any car-buff standard.
