Take Creatine if you want to bulk up quick.
I remember taking this a few years ago and it worked as far as bulking up is concerned (until you cycle off and lose the water weight). I always had to piss like a racehorse though because of all the water you have to drink to keep your kidneys clean.

Here what I've learned on how to use whey protein.

Your body can process about 40 grams of protein every 2-3 hours. Whey protein powder is fast digesting so it is recommended to use right after a workout. Depending on which brand or type you purchased (for me, Mega Whey 40g protein equates to using 3 scoops) your scoop amount will vary. Don't mix it with milk. Mix it with water. The powder works best and disolves best in water. The milk is just extra calories that you probably don't need in your diet (depending on if you are having milk with your other meals). Whey protein is not a meal replacement. If you are getting enough protein from your meals you shouldn't need whey protein. Recommended use is after a workout and once more before going to bed (on a workout day).

A lot of that is genetic. If you come from naturally skinny stock, there is only so much wieght you can put on. When I first started working out I hit the gym hard for an hour a day for about six months straight. All of my lifting abilities went up dramatically and I got a lot stronger all around but only gained about two pounds. I lost some fat, looked really defined but could not put on weight. And this was in my twenties. Other, what I would call "stocky" guys, can put on ten pounds in about a month.

I'd say work out and expect results if you do it right, but you are not going to change your body type. I have worked out pretty consistently for over 15 years now and the difference in weight from when I started is about 12-15 pounds. When I am in top shape I look like a bricksh*thouse compare to the "before" picture, but in dress casual clothes look like some skinny guy. If you are over 30, your ability to put on lean muscle has decreased DRAMATICALLY unless you go Barry Bonds on the deal.

If you're really hardcore, you'll wake up in the middle of the night to take a protein shake. People do it.

i am 37...5'11" and weigh about 170lbs..... I am naturally skinny.... i don't have a washboard stomach but i don't have rolls of fat either..

I was hoping to get back up to 175-180lbs but it is impossible without taking shit......

I took Creatine about 10 years ago and got up to 181 but dropped quickly as soon as I stopped.....

I guess I should just be happy at 170lbs.... way too much ****ing work for 5-10lbs.... blaaa

i love Mt. Dew also.... so i am not sure how that plays into anything but I HAVE to drink at least 2 cans a day...

not washboard stomah + no rolls of fat + 37 years old = stomach looks like deflated balloon...lol, jk

Anyways, I wouldn't go the whey protein or creatine route unless you want to really put on bulk. I would just eat an extra meal during the day, preferably high in protein. Do cardio 4-5 days a week for 20-30 minutes and do light-lightly stenuous weights to tone up. You will naturally put on about 10 pounds and will be toned in no time if you keep up witt it.

It makes the sellers of whey protein wealthier.

The Whey protein is really overrated as a mass adder. The best stuff on the market is Weight Gain 4000. Guarenteed to turn you into a beefcake!

Oh Lord.. noXplode

If you want to go the protein shake route, take 20-50g protein (0.15-0.2g/lb target BW) 0-30 min before workout. Whey is preferred for its BCAA content. Milk is ok here since it gets the anabolic/anticatabolic cascade rolling. Adding fat to this shake can slow the release of nutrients substantially & benefit those who train for significantly more than 90 min. Also eat 40-80g (0.33g/lb target BW) low-to-moderate GI carbs.. fruit or oats works well.

Post workout take 30-60g protein (0.25g/lb target BW) from a shake. Whey is again good here since its a highly insulinogenic protein. The pros of milk post workout are that it's highly insulinogenic, contains 6g dex per cup, and is a potent anabolic/anticatabolic substance that has outperformed whey in human research thus far. Also 60-120g of high-GI carbs (0.5g/lb target BW).. oats, dextrose, a banana.

Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey is where its at.

Ok...this shit is way too complex for me...... I will just run this shit through my system and see what happens.... I run / bike 3-4 times a week which may be part of the reason I don't gain weight... i sweat too much..... and I don't enjoy overeating (unless it is pussy.... )....

ROIDS FTW!!!! I always wanted a zit covered back!
