I made it, just barely. Only the required number badges. I can confirm that it looks good on a resume. I've been told in more than one interview that it separated me from other candidates. Plus I made a deal with my parents...if I made Eagle, they'd get me a car. Too good a deal to pass up, I thought!

I got my Eagle rank just a few weeks before I turned 18

josh3io apparently is an Eagle scout too. Something just doesn't seem right with that picture

I filed paperwork when I was 15 and I became an Eagle Scout when I was 16. We were very motivated in my troop, with 1/3 of us reaching that rank at a time when the national average was 3%. I worked my butt off for that, my project took 4 weekends. We moved over 30 tons of dirt and rock WITHOUT HEAVY MACHINERY to repair a trail in Manassas Battlefield Park.

I am still just as trustworthy loyal helpful friendly curteous kind obedient cheerful thrifty brave clean and reverent as I was back then

There was a tradition in my troop for the scoutmasters to ask many distinguished people such as politicians and business leaders to send congratulatory letters. Bill Gates was the only one to have his secretary reply that he was too busy to send me a personal letter. The CEO of Intel not only wrote me a personal letter, but also included a cool pentium keychain
I have a book full of letters, from people from the CEO of Coca-Cola to The President of the United States.

I got to Star, then dropped out. Any of you scouts in California ever go to summer camp at a place called Camp Winton? Best damn place ever. It's on Bear River Resevoir.

I did cub scouts. Closest I got to an eagle scout was when we used to sneak up on their camp sites and feed their dog chocolate covered x-lax. ( know, I know . . .)

yep, made Eagle at 17. I was ready to stop at Life but my dad pushed me to go on, glad he did. To give you an idea of when that was.... Nixon's signature is on my card.

I got to life, and had 25 merit badges.
I couldn't float, so I avoided any water related merit badges. Swimming and lifesaving to be exact. I was emberassed at the time, but to this day, I still can't float. Not enough lard on my ass I guess.
