My son joined and then they told us they did not have a leader... so I was volunteered by my wife. She knew me well enough to know I would love it.

 

made it through after many years in the BSA, it was worth it...since I was able to travel around... and learn some useful skills and alot of usless ones.

 

So any of you former scouts in CA wanna go backpacking?

 

I made it to Eagle. Even had enough merit badges left over to get some of the palms.

 

Oh yeah, I forgot about the palms. Very impressive.

 

My wife and I love backpacking, but our kids never did. In just over two years our daughter will graduate high school and wants to go to college in Washington. The day she leaves home we'll be on our way to backpack somewhere. Anywhere. It doesn't matter.

 

I got my Eagle on 11-11-97 easy to remember. Just a couple months after my 16th birthday.
My parents wanted me to get it before I got my license. So I didn't end up with my license until 5 months after my birthday
It getts on my nerves now because my younger brother was allowed to get his license w/o making eagle yet! Parents get easy going in their old age!

Oh, and for the record, I am paying for my S2k myself
