How about rock climbing instead. That's what we used to do. Unfortunately, I don't fit into my harness anymore. We used to go out to Joshua Tree quite often.

Ahhh... backpacking in the Sierra's... my family used to do that every summer. Best place we went to was Shealor Lakes.... had beautiful scenery... another great place is Emmigrant Lake. Backpacking is so much fun.

For all you guys who made it to Eagle, CONGRATULATIONS!! Its a great accomplishment.

For the rest of us who just couldn't make it past First Class, you can SPONSOR Eagle Scouts. I've done it for two years now and find it to be a lot of fun and very rewarding!

Its nice to work with quality individuals!

Eagle here... it actually helped me land an internship at Ford one summer. At the interview we ended up talking about Philmont and various campsites, rather than engineering or cars.

What I'd like to know if is anyone made it to Vigil in Order of the Arrow. That seems to be a lot more rare than the Eagle rank.

Got my Eagle in '80 or '81. Lots of great memories. Things must have been different then.............when I made Eagle I had my pic in the paper but that was about it. No letters from anyone that I can remember. It helped me get a congressional interview for the Air Force Academy.......

Made it LIFE rank but not the Eagle. In fact, when I received Life, I shortly thereafter lost interest in the troop as I was already 13 or 14 and it became much cooler to hang with a girl (if 'ya know what I mean)!

Also, lots of folks started to leave the Scouts around 13 or 14 so the majority of the boys were young. There's a time in your life where you mature!
