Default Excite@Home are they done?

I heard on the tele that they go before a judge on friday for bankruptcy and he can decide to shut them down immediately

Being a subscriber thru my cable company will I be left in the dark?

Only if your cable company do not have an ISP waiting in the wings to replace excite@home. Maybe roadrunner. They are currently the largest cable modem provider distrubiting thru Time Warner Cable.
Call your cable operator to get the info.

I understand that AT&T is trying to buy Excite. A pocket change transaction for them. You should have gotten a letter in the mail that went into all the "what evers". Just waiting to see how it shakes out

So you are right, there is a small possibility that the network shuts down on the 30th.

ATT offered 300 million and the creditors for the @home network are not budging, they want more. So if no one is around, the network could go dark. Unlikely the judge would do that. I think (and hope) he presses them to keep the service going.

Both Comcast and Cox will be up the creek until they have their own capability.
I am following closely as I would lose my home fast connection.

my brother has the @home service in Ft. Worth. For a cable modem, it really really really sucks - its quite slow and service has been junk, but this is only for his area, not every @home subscriber. He mentioned the bankruptcy but figures it would be a good time to switch to DSL for five bucks more a month.

what really sucks is that i had excite stock before they became @home. and man, that stock was a winner for me. was part of the reason i was able to afford my car. After they became @home, i sold. I am sooooo glad i did. Man.. i would kill myself if i saw the stock drop like that.
