Exclusivity of S2000 vs Porsche
I just recently stumbled across this web site full of production numbers for Porsches' circa 1963-1998 (non boxster). It appears that there have been close to 400,000 911 style units turned out in those 35 years.
I assume that this is world wide production, but still adds up to a LOT of Porsches.

Silverfox,
I'm not sure where you intended to take this thread
. . .
400,000 cars over 35 years (as least in my opinion) IS a VERY limited number of vehicles. . . Consider the fact that Honda, Toyota and Ford each sell a couple hundred-thousand Accords, Camry and Tauruses annually. . .
Further, with the exception of the base 911 Carrera (993) that sold approximately 46,000 between 93-98 and the successor 996 which will probably have similar sales numbers, virtually of of Porsche's other models have production numbers in the under 3,000 units produced range. . .
Even the base 993 only averaged about 8,000 units/year. . . By most standards this is also considered limited. . .
Bottomline, what's the point. . . I don't think many people actually consider a base 993/996 a "collector's item." However, Turbos and Type S's
that's a different. . .
