wrong. the android software launched on google in november with over 12000 apps. it's well into the 20k area now and growing.
I thought it was kind of obvious that I was exaggerating...wow almost 20K apps, the appstore probably sells that many per day or more. There is no comparison at this point so please don't try to pretend there is. As I mentioned, I think the platform has great potential but it's not there yet. Just about every car made these days has an iPod/iPhone interface option and there's a reason for that...I wouldn't count on seeing that become a 'droid interface' option anytime in the near future. I'm sure the 'iphone losers' tag on the headline was to stir the pot and it worked but at this point it's kind of like Hyundai of a few years ago trying to bad mouth Honda...just wouldn't make any sense. The iPhone has put AT&T back on the map...it has created so much business for AT&T that Verizon decided they needed to make commercials to try and slow the momentum. I'm not a fan of the way Apple controls the app store but he bottom line is that iPhone is an awesome piece of hardware with a revolutionary interface...the droid will be playing catch up for a bit.

have you spent time with the android...like a fair amount of time to draw a comparision?

can you offer some more informative opinions other than that? i'm interested to hear some actually feedback?

i have spent time with both...i prefer the droid. and i will stay with the droid ( or top of the line android phone at the time ) when the iphone comes to verizon also. when the iphone makes its next iteration i will consider it based on what it has to offer, but phone for phone right now: droid for me.

the numbers i have seen range between about 27k and 30k now depending on the source.

and honestly....the number of apps doesn't exactly win any battles for me. i know what's in the iphone app store. lots of good stuff, but also 1,000 diffferent apps for flipping a coin, 1500 for rolling a dice, and 2000 magic 8ball ones. i mean how many different ways can you do the same basic thing.

but i haven't really found a good app on the iphone i want that isn't on the droid market too. so i have everything i need; i'm happy.

and even more important and useful than most apps out there is the free inclusion of google maps and it's voice activated and spoken turn by turn navigation app. google earth is coming also and the google goggles app, while a bit rough around the edges, will be great once an update gets out for it.

quantity to quantity...iphone wins. quality to quality....i think they are much more comparable.

Network, anti-sheepism?
i don't mean to be offensive to anyone but you can call it sheepism if you want but the fact of the matter is that i still get to enjoy virtually unlimited apps. and as for multi-tasking? yeah its a hassle but it don't really bother me. i only need to do one thing at a time anyway.

as for the network, AT&T is OK at best in my area, but all my friends, family, and acquaintances are on AT&T so i wouldn't even think of switching to verizon and getting slammed with overages.

It's called an iPod touch, not an iTouch. Assuming your iPod is out of warranty, try this site:
