Is This Fraud?
Tell him that you haven't received the money order yet, or that it bounced and that you need the payment ASAP. Have him ship another one overnight from Dubai. That will cost him like $50.

I got an e-mail from a gentleman (?) in Dubai who wrote that his son is getting married in Long Beach in September and wanted to hire me to perform at the reception. I quoted him $450.
Today I got an e-mail saying that a money order is on its way. Unfortunately (it read), the accountant misunderstood the instructions and sent me a money order for $1,600.55. He asked that I send him a cheque for the difference - $1,150.55 - after the money order arrives, and apologized for the inconvenience.
I don't recall anything on my website that suggested that I'm an idiot or a dupe. Perhaps I should reread it.

I took the money orders to the post office today and guess what! They're forgeries! (Imagine my shock!)
There's an oval on the left side that's supposed to have a Benjamin Franklin watermark. No watermark. There's supposed to be a printed thread running through the money order. No thread.
I e-mailed the gentleman to tell him that the money orders had been confiscated and that he should investigate his accountant: apparently the accountant is stealing from him, taking his hard-earned and issuing bogus money orders. I told him how sorry I was that, if the accountant did this with the other arrangements for the wedding, his son's wedding would turn out to be a disaster.
