See, I feel your pain rworne. After watching American Pie 1 and 2 you feel like you wish you had this group of guys that would always come back and do stuff together. I would hate to come to college and see all my friends graduate already. That's sort of the reason why I didn't want to go in the military. I always thought you couldn't be social. Right now I got two friends that went into the marines. The only people these two have talked to were their girlfriends once or twice, and best friends. The rest of us have been left in the dark.

Most of my 'aquaintances' from high school I haven't seen except at reunions. Many of my FRIENDS from high school are still friends and I see quite often. The key is knowing which is which. If you find a good friend, keep them.

rworne & Christople,

Interesting that you mention the military, because most of my closest friends are part of my life because of the time I spent growing up around the military. My father was in the military for 39 years and I grew up moving all over the world and have carried those friendships and relationships with me everywhere I've gone. I find that people associated with the military have a more nomadic lifestyle than most other people, so time and distance don't seem to bother us as much.

I can go for YEARS without seeing my best friend (longest span was about 6 or 7 years) and the moment we see each other again or talk on the phone it is like no time ever passed!

I was at WSU from 90-95, so I guess it actually was specifically YOU I hated!!

Sadly, I would agree with you about our band and our school song...not memorable.

Totally agree with you. A single flute player could drown out the WSU band...and they're not a particularly small band, either...

On the subject of friends, though, I was actually friends with a few people in the band even though they weren't very good. Don't stay in touch with any of them, though...

my friends from my senior year are the only ones that I have, I'm more of an outsider at my school, but yeah, I am still really cool with them....all 7 of them but during the school semester, I'm more of a loner than hanging out, this year, I am just going to focus on my car and my school work I guess that is why college is semi-hell to me??? oh well

Don't feel so bad. At my college, I only had aquaintances that may or may not be in the next class. So when each year was over, more and more of them were gone.

I'm back now working on a Master's and I only recognize one or two people from when I graduated in 1998. They recognise me too, but we never really knew each other. I'm closer to more faculty members than students, though none of the faculty I can call "buddies" either.

Dunno why I am bummed about all this so suddenly, my 20-year HS reunion is coming up next year, but so far all the people showing up aren't people I know. My life and everyone else's just got out of synch, and after HS, I never really developed any true friends since then that were beyond "aquaintances".
