Just kidding. These days, the group of guys I help manage (I only answer to the chief engineer and division VP) are all working on projects different than mine. I typically check their work and so I'm much more in the role of developing them as opposed to competing with them. It makes for a much more relaxed atmosphere as guys don't have to worry about someone one-upping them on a particular project or design.

We collectively review major designs and critique them along the way so it's not as if anyone gets blindsided by a glaring flaw in their work at the end of a project...

That said, we are all competing to find "the next big thing" in the industry. The person that finds it will definitely have it made.
