Street racing is big in California, especially in the Bay Area. But, I watch almost everyweek, and I've NEVER seen anyone get hurt from racing. Maybe get hurt doing dumb crap like donuts, but not street racing. Honestly, I think cops are wasting tax money breaking up the "runs" since there's much worse things going on the same time.

Stickers on a street car SHOULD allow a police officer to drag you out of the car and beat you with a rubber hose until you swear you will never ever EVER deface a car again, and then he should beat you for five more minutes like the complete taint-licker you are. Then you should have to stand at a major intersection, naked but covered with NAZZZ and MUGEN and AEM and fake carbon fiber stickers next to a sign that says "I'm impotent unless I'm thinking about a Skyline GT-R."

As another pointed out, it's idiot ricers that got you guys into this mess in the first place.
Hi chris, thank you for the personal attacks, and wonderful words you used. you truly are a great person. Im not a rice racer, nor do I have any stickers on my s2k. And if you have read any of my previous posts, im a outspoken critic of street racing. and BTW how is your skyline GT-R running? what year and color is your honda s2k?. thanks, and keep up the nice post

Hey man, why are you getting offended if you don't have stickers on your car? I didn't make fun of you (even though I was quoting your post, I was just branching off your point), I was making fun of people who ARE ricers and who DO cover their car in ghey stickers. So WTF? Calm down. I hate ricers, not you.

PS...I have neither a GT-R (which I wouldn't be caught dead in) or an S2000 (which I covet); I have a humble Acura TSX. It's red and runs well, thanks.

I venture to say that there are FAR more deaths caused by drunk driving then there are street racing....

I'd also venture to say there are FAR more deaths caused by shootings / gangs / other misc activity then there are street racing...

I think Cali (and many other states for that matter) have their priorities way out of line. In one of the previous posts there was like 16 deaths in a month or something caused by street racing...Thats sad to hear yes but that is nothing compared to how many other deaths are caused by the things I mentioned above.

It pisses me off to see / hear this kind of misuse of tax money on relitivly stupid things compared to the giant picture of problems.

Also so what if we have stickers / loud exhausts / intakes or whatever (Note I do not have stickers thankfully). Even though I dispise stickers, I don't see a problem with them. What happened to our right of free speech and innocent until proven guilty. Becuase someone has a AEM sticker or K&N stickers doesn't f*cking mean they are street racing...what kind of BS is that.

Try looking up the statistics. Besides, death isn't the only bad thing that can happen when you street race. I'm sure there are many, many accidents and injuries caused by people street racing. You hear about it all the time.

And just because there are other stupid things people do to kill themselves, we shouldn't bother with street racing?

The sad thing is that is purely about taxation - not safety. Has any body read Patrick Bedard's editorial on the wasting of transportation tax dollars in good old U.S.A. Its in the April 06 issue of C&D. It is truely pathetic what our govt. does with all the tax money.

Like somebody already said - Canada looks better everyday.

Oddly enough, I just read a couple of SF books by Elizabeth Bear, where the Canadians have built a secure border fence to keep people from the US out. This is partly in response to the Christian Facist party taking over the US.

Funny, I'm about half-way through that book and can't find much motivation to continue...

I bought the first one in the series for a plane trip, and liked it enough to buy the second book last week. I guess I'll get the third one now

It has a lot of the techie themes I like, and Richard Feynman was an added bonus.
