In Louisiana, you can be fired for being ugly.

At-will states are a bitch, aren't they? That really sucks, but I would be pissed if a tech left his phone charging in my car too. That means that you may have been talking on the phone while you were working on my car, and that could mean a delay in service and extension of time, orpossibly a distraction resulting in problems. Since time=money, I am sure the customer was pissed at having his squandered alongwith your employer.
As far as the parking thing- you know you were just being lazy... don't cut corners when you are under someone else's watch.
You said you knew they were on a firing rampage, why weren't you on your A-game? If I knew for a fact that the ice were thin, I would not do anything silly to terminate myself.
Next time, don't give them an inch. If there are little nit-picky type rules that they can nail you on, they will. Especially when they want to get rid of people.
Best of luck to you in the future. Remember: CYA! Cover your ass, in case you don't know.

Leaving your phone charging was a bad idea to begin with. I worked as a tech for a dealership for 3 years, any little slip like that with the phone, was an automatic write up. 3 write ups and your done. Parking was a huge issue at the dealership I worked at too. 1/4 mile walk everyday rain/snow/110 degree heat - whatever, we were walking. Every now and then you could slip your car into a closer parking spot, but managers always keep an eye on the lot so we didn't park there often. That in itself could be a write up. Therefore you may have had two things coming, and they decided that was enough.

Sorry to hear about your bad misfortune. It sucks to hear about anyone getting fired. Good luck with finding a new job!!

I would complain to the higher ranks at HONDA.
Honda dealerships are operated independently of Honda, and complaining to them would be about as effective as complaining to a wall.

Sucks about what happened, but at least in TX you can be fired for pretty much anything.

Definately a bad move leaving you phone charging in someone's car. Being lazy and parking where you aren't supposed to wasn't smart either. Unless you are a top notch employee that they couldn't afford to get rid off, you should've wised up. I know it sucks to get fired, but most of the time it is a long time coming.

You parked your car where you did so that you could leave quickly...guess they just helped you leave a little quicker.
