Pinky,

I've been not working for about a month now. Im actually enjoying the down time. I think it would be a good idea to set up a network of people on the S2K board to look for jobs for everyone. Just keep people informed.

The jon market sucks right now, but I'm seeing a bit more interest in some areas for my services. Everyone I talk to is talking about a bounce back by the fourth quarter of this year. Let's hope they're right.

Pinky,

Sorry to here about your situation but you DO have everything in perspective. As I posted to Mingster, you have been handed an excellent opportunity to find a job that makes you happy. I truly hope that you take the time to get it right!

In 1995, the entire East Coast engineering group that I worked for was "downsized"(I hate that term!!!). Out of 70 people, I was one of 5 who still had a job when the dust cleared. I was not happy on several fronts.

All of my friends were gone in a flash, and we were a pretty tight group. I was already working 60+ hours a week at the time and was expected to help archive a lot of the work that was in progress without the benefit of having anyone turn this code over to me.

Most of my co-workers were walking away with incredibly lucrative severance packages and into much better jobs within days and weeks of the layoff. If I were part of this layoff, I would have walked with a little more than 26 weeks of pay. I begged to be part of it numerous times!

The morale was sub-zero for those of us left behind. It was difficult to get up in the morning knowing that you were now working for management that you no longer respected or trusted and knowing that you were about to walk into an empty building with many people who have been part of your life for a long time now gone.

I left on my own about six weeks later and have stayed in touch with many of these people. Believe it or not, many people from this group have done extremely well. Some are worth millions today after starting their own businesses.

Best of luck to you! NASDAQ has set you free.

John
