Somewhat related -- ever since I picked up this car, its obvious the change in some people's attitude towards me. There are clearly at least two people gunning for me now. No coincidence that one of them is clearly proud of being and looking grass-roots and uses every possible opportunity to remind everyone of how he's been and done everything in life (that is, very common-man things, like plumber, electrician, etc.) and how he just happened to wander into <my profession> like it was just some trivial passing thing he's trying out.

The sort of guy who derives validation in very publicly expressing "see, I don't need a degree to do what you do" and "I can come from a family of heroin addicts and not have been born with the silver spoon in my ass to be as good as you".

Sure, buddy...if you're so goddamn everyman then how do you explain the chip on your shoulder?

At least there's a few Porsches and BMWs in our parking lot to take some of the attention off me. Doesn't help that I look up to ten years younger than I really am.

People suck.

I just want to have a nice, purpose-built vehicle and enjoy it without all the rubber-necking, back-stabbing, jealousy, posturing, etc. that all you weak-minded people engage in when Something Different Than You and Potentially Threatening comes along.

Sometimes. Sometimes I just think a professional boot in someone's unprofessional ass would fix things.

People never fail to disappoint you....sadly, it's a fact of life. You shouldn't worry about this. As you say you've put 3 years into the company, why bale out now? On the other hand, if this is making you really unhappy, then get out, but you are just as likely to encounter this rubbish wherever you go.

LOL, Silver Fog my professional boots are steal toe, always get the job done!

Cedric, You have a point about not leaving. But with this company your just a disposable item. I am as valuable to them as someone that was just hired. I have seen it happen before. Talk about screwed up business ethics!

Thanks Again for the insight guys and gurls!

Sorry to hear about your situation Nick. Don't sweat it man, if you've done everything legit then what do you have to worry about. If they try to pull something, get a lawyer and sue em if you have to. I'd just get another job, I wouldn't wanna work for a place that doesn't respect you.

Matt.

I get this crap at work all the time to. I largely afford my S2000 due to both my income and my wives income (it matches mine). Everyone at work makes these comments but they drive to work in their nice large 30K+ SUV. It obviously comes down to jealously

Matt, thanks for the empathy. Those are my thoughts exactly. If they start screwing around I going straight to the lawyer. They still have not said anything directly to me so that means that they can't find shit. Big surprise!
