Perry Caught Using Vulgar Language On Tape
Governor Apologizes For Mocking TV Reporter

POSTED: 9:34 am CDT June 22, 2005
UPDATED: 10:07 am CDT June 22, 2005

SAN ANTONIO -- Gov. Rick Perry apologized to a Houston TV reporter Tuesday for a comment he made during a satellite interview.

KTRK reporter Ted Oberg was interviewing Perry on Monday about the governor's plan for school finance when Perry politely told the reporter he would have to wait until Tuesday for details about the plan.

"In saying goodbye, I told the governor, 'Try as I may, governor, I guess I can't win this one,'" Oberg said.

About 10 seconds after Oberg and Perry said goodbye, the camera crew was getting ready for the next interview with another TV station when Perry, unaware that the camera was still rolling and his microphone still on, said, "Try as I may, governor, I'm not going to wait that long. Adios Mofo."

The next day, Perry apologized to Oberg, saying his comment wasn't directed toward the station, and all he was doing was trying to get a reaction from the camera crew

I see it as rude and stupid. Not the traits that you would want your Governor to display.

Kind of brings back memories of the clip of Lord Bush flipping off the camera.

Remind me again how these men over the age of 40, that clearly act like junior high locker room frat boy douchebags when they think they're not being filmed, made it in to a political office in the first place?

I agree they can have a sense of humor but, its like sex and a number of other things. Do what you want in private but don't get caught doing it in public.

It seems like the media is always trying to catch someone in the public eye doing something off color, then blow it up into something it's really not. Maybe some politician should bring in some legislation that ALL video/audio recording devices have a 50 watt red light prominently displayed in full view when the equipment is on. Come on folks it's the same stuff we do everyday, we're just not in the public eye.
