GPS Help! GPS V or Streetpilot?
I need to buy a GPS for street navigation in the US. Anyone have experience with both of these? Does the Streetpilot offer enough advantage to be worth trice as much as the GPS V? Is there something else I should be looking at?
You might want to conside the Garmin iQue: http://www.garmin.com/products/iQue3600/ It's about 1/2 the price of the street pilot. I've used one and it worked great for me. The main caveat is that it'll chew through the battery in a couple hours in full GPS mode if it's not attached to an external power source. I don;t think this would be an issue since you'll probably be using it in a car (since you are considering the Street Pilot)
Thanks for the feedback. This was supposed to be a gift but I am coming to the conclusion the GPS V is not quite what is needed and the StreetPilot is too much for me to go for as a gift. I guess this one will have to wait.
I have the Street Pilot Deluxe as well as the Magellan 750 Nav in my cars that don't offer OEM nav system. I use the Street Pilot in the S . One advantage of the Pilot is that it records your true top speed no more BS you went 150 mph or whatever . The PDA GPS unit mentioned has a slower processor which means redraw is very slow. The Pilot should drop in price as it is being replaced with a newer unit .
