graduating soon?
Yep, I'm almost done with school, have about 4 months left, then finally its over!
Parents want me to find my own place, so do I, but I'm a little bit hesitant. I hate the thought of throwing away cash on rent, but theres no way I can buy a house. I havn't even found a full time job yet.
Graduating with a BA in Finance, any finance majors here? How did your job search go, and what are you doing now? Salary ranges? Job Satisfaction?
Anyway, who else is graduating this spring, what is your major, and whats your next step? Previous graduates, how did it feel to finally get done with school, and do you guys have any tips for us soon to walk into commencement?

lol chill out. at least u picked a good major for getting a job. salary range depends on location.
my advice is to start looking now. however, when you do get the job tell them you dont want to start working right after school. take a few months off then start working. you have 30+ years of work ahead of you.
with finance you can work many different jobs, but you should specialized and look into getting a certification. cpa, cia, cfp, cfa, etc. with certs you look more legit on paper.

It felt great to be done school. For me it meant no longer going to school full-time and working two part-time jobs. The predictabilty was a relief (even if it was difficult to adjust.)
My post-grad advice is this: If you have student loans, don't change your lifestyle once you get a job. When I graduated my monthly income almost quadrupled. Although my costs of living went up, I tried not to spend too much in other areas (welllll, except for the S!) and almost 4 years later I'm proud to say I've paid nearly 3/4 of my debt off and I've owned a house for over a year.

If you have any trouble finding a job at all, talk to a head hunter/placement agency (or do so from the start). Accounting and Finance majors have no problem being placed.. the problem is knowing where to look.
When I graduated from college I lived with my parents again for a little over a year.. this was a great setup and allowed me to save a lot of money. After one year living at home you should have enough for a down payment on an inexpensive house.

Being done with school is the greatest thing in the world. If you are not ready to move on, why not get an MBA? Regardless, the job search may be stressful, but whatever you do don't get your hopes down, persistence is your friend.

i've graduated already... but i feel you. AND congrats.
stay at home as long as you can. that's how i have money to buy my07. rent is a waste of money but people think it's some sort of acomplishment to throw away money on it. i would only rent if i had to move for work. otherwise, i'm save for a home.
