Off-topic Talk Where overpaid, underworked S2000 owners waste the worst part of their days before the drive home. This forum is for general chit chat and discussions not covered by the other off-topic forums.

Great timing! Going to Paris on Friday...

George Bush, simply put, is an idiot. (no dissrepect, just simple honesty and truth)

One fact though, he is definitely not the man to lead a war when he skipped his military training

[B]Thanks Da Hapa for being a bit more cold-blooded in you latest replies.

However I'd like to set things straight as much as I can:

on the 11th of september 2001, along with the rest of the world, I discovered, horrified, that a city that I love, where I have lots of friends, got attacked.

What I posted was the reflection of the general opinion in London on that day. It was something like "this is very scary, and even scarier is the fact that an idiot has the access to the red button".

You're entitled to your opinion but I do find it curious that you'd bash a man like President Bush but have Tupac in your avatar.

Oh, and I'd also like to add that I hope this war doesn't worsen the world's (especially, the muslim world's) perception of the U.S., which is already very bad. For I fear that'll only lead to more attempts at terrorism against this nation.

My thoughts exactly Jack

I am not anti-American, my concerns are that this war will stir things up in the Muslim world without sorting out any answers ......

I sincerely hope that there are no more terrorist attacks, but I honestly believe that this will increase the possibility of them .....

Which suggests that even Hans Blix isn't sure if that's the case.

PeaceLove&S2K -

The headlines do suggest such but read a little further down in the article.

I quote: "Blix said there were still a lot of questions about whether Iraq has destroyed its weapons of mass destruction."

Nobody (except maybe Iraq) disputes that Iraq had humongous caches of WMD's. Iraq now says that they've used, destroyed, or lost all these WMD's. So far, they've been unable to account for a huge amount of that cache and therein lies the problem.

I too fear for reprisals and further deterioriation with the US image in the Arab world. But I believe that as awful as war is, its the only way to solve this issue. Clearly, after 12 years of making and breaking promise after promise, diplomacy isn't working.

I believe we will find these WMD and the rationale and level headed portion of the Arab world (the vast and overwhelming majority, IMO) will see that what was done was necessary.

The war started about an hour ago so I'll close with this.

I pray for the folks on both sides of this conflict.
I pray for minimal casualties on both sides.
I pray for a quick resolution that brings our troops home safely and leaves Iraq free from this mad man.
I pray that Saddam isn't crazy enough to unleash his WMD or destroy his oil wells and unleash a humongous environmental nightmare.

I'm not anti-American either, and have never been (though I love to crack American jokes sometimes ). In fact I think America was a great idea (i.e., what the founding father had in mind). Though I'm not sure I like what it's turning into...
