Default Which Handgun to get?

Question for all you hand gun experts out there ! I currently have a Browning .380 and would like to get a 9mm. What is a reasonable hand gun to get? I have seen S&W and Glocks, but i would like to try to stay around the $400 range if at all possible and also not too big (for concealing purpose).

thanks for your advice !!

I personally own Glocks. If you want simplicity and reliability they are hard to beat. Check out Kahr also. I owned an MK9 and and MK40. They are very small.

Glock .40 caliber, medium frame. Glock 23...

Accurate, reliable, compact, excellent ballistics with the .40, high capacity (with an aftermarket pre-ban magazine). Not a show gun, not a competition gun, but a nearly perfect target shooting or self defense handgun.

Heckler and Koch would be my choice, but a new one would not fall into your price range. I have the .357Auto version of the USP Compact. Here is the 9mm (that picture is crappy - I prefer this gun in all black, but you can get it either way):

I also have a full sized USP in 9mm:

One thing you will definitely want to do is see if you can try a few of these out first. Glocks seem to be love them or hate them guns. I personally couldn't quite adjust to the angle of the grip on the few that I've tried. My second choice over HK would probably be SIG with Glock in third.

you may want to look into that new FN P9 pistol i posted about, may be slightly over your budget but looks like a solid one. if you can handle full sized pistols i'd recommend the beretta 92 - it shoots well, and even with hot loads the recoil is very controllable. some of my best shooting is done on the beretta, and it's a good work horse.

I concur with those folks that recommend .40 over 9mm.

I've got a Glock 26 (9mm ) that I use as a carry weapon. Great little piece. I will someday have the .40 of the same pistol.

Also recommend Sig and HK, although you're going to have to go Used to find one in the right price range.

Which reminds me, years back, I bought a Sig 220 in Nickel for $430 at a gun show... the piece is pristine, except it seems to have some issues with trigger spring. Need to get to gunsmith.

Good luck, and let us know what the verdict will be.
