Not trying to tell y'all how to keep your guns, but a Glock is perfectly safe to carry/store with a round in the chamber. See also this guide which applies in some ways:
I don't agree with that. Too many folks have shot themselves re-holstering their weapon, not to mention pulling it out. If you want to be a cowboy, get an old 1911 and walk around cocked and locked.

Personally, I have thing for kimbers and HK's ... but I carry a glock 23. It weighs less, it shoots straight (after some work) and it is about as close to never failing to fire as anything out there (despite some of the glock haters nonsense you will find).

question from a UK resident:-

In the US if someone breaks into your house in the middle of the night........can you legally kill them with a pistol.....it seems reasonable enough to me but just wondered if this was actually the case over in the States

In the UK we can't do jack with anyone who breaks in to your house....and if you do you are in deep sh1t

Zero:

It depends on the jurisdiction. In almost all places, you have to clearly demonstrate that your life is in jeopardy to justify a homicide. Ostensibly, this is often the same threshold that the police must meet when using lethal force. In some places you will find yourself in deep trouble even if it's fairly obvious that you were endangered. In other places a "hot burglary" is going to be looked upon as ample justification. Like I said, it all depends on who is the prosecutor, where you are located, and what the local attitudes towards guns are. But that's just for criminal charges. For civil suits (civil torts), I am afraid it's a whole 'nother story entirely...

That makes sense doesnt it. I guess you can politely ask your attacker to wear a rubber if they rape your wife at gunpoint, and dont make it long and torturous when they kill your kids.
People that come to my house better use the doorbell....firearms are legal thanks to our constitution and I certainly accept my responsibility to protect my family.

I think if someone breaks into your home then they must 'take their chances'.....they are themsleves operating outside of the law and so should have no protection from the law

The householder doesn't ask to be put in the situation of having to evaluate the motives of the intruder.....plug the bastard is what I think

If someone breaks into my house the only question is whether they are going to get shot with .223, 7.62x39, 12ga, 20ga, .45ACP, .40 S&W, 9mm, .380, .308, .30 or any combination of the above.

They would get poked with a 12ga at my house.
