OC,
Try timepiece network in the Burbank Media center. They have the best watch prices by far with the best service.

One last option. I have a chance to pickup an Artelier Complication in mint condition, with box, papers, tags, ect. from a very well-known seller on timezone.com

The price is $750 shipped. Retail is almost $1500. Thoughts?

my 2 cents.

go on a carribean cruise that includes the cayman islands.

my wife and i picked up a matching pair of ESQ watches for $165, no tax.

thay have all types of deals there. cayman was the best deal i found, plus you will get a vacation out of it.

i would get a dressy watch with a black face and a more casual watch with a white face, this would give you an option for most any situation.

If you like it, go for it.

I bought almost every watch I own from Timezone. It's the best place to shop for used watches.

Citizen makes very good and classy watches for 3-5 hundred. if you do not like chronographs or other complications then they have several nice simple watches.

I am a big fan of their eco drive watches because they are essentially worry and maint. free. the moon phase collection is very nice and I have one of those for everyday use.

Seiko, and the others mentioned, are tried and true too. It comes down to styling and usage as far making a real decision, as I am concerned.

If you are looking into to getting a status symbol watch, your price range does not bring the big boys into real consideration. Movados, Tags and any other status line or subline will not retain their value or prestige in that price range category.

If you are serious about getting a pricy watch take that money and scour the pawn shops for a budget priced Breitling, Zenith or other worldly watch. it may require some repair or freshing up but it will get you going in the watch world more quickly than buying new.

watches should never be considered investments. One does purchase value when securing limited editions and self winding time pieces. There is always a decent value on a fine time piece in the secondary market, but trying to pawn a seiko for anything but scrap value will be tough.

Find what you like and wear it in good health.

I've read some negative things about the Williams F1 watches online, but nothing specific. Not sure why? It looks like a nice watch.

I'm set on an Oris for sure. The idea of a Swiss watch with movement made in-house is very attractive to me. I like Movado, but in the end, I could always just steal one of my father's. I think the Oris designs fit someone my age a bit better.
