Help me start my watch collection...

I've read some negative things about the Williams F1 watches online, but nothing specific. Not sure why? It looks like a nice watch.
I'm set on an Oris for sure. The idea of a Swiss watch with movement made in-house is very attractive to me. I like Movado, but in the end, I could always just steal one of my father's. I think the Oris designs fit someone my age a bit better.

i think people complains about the plasticy looks on the chapter ring of the Oris Williams F1 in the first generation
i think Oris fixed that later on
and Oris doesn't have conventional lugs, so strap option is limited

Since so many people were helpful, I figured it was worth updating this tread.
I went on Thursday to Boutique Du Temps upon Nate's suggestion. Spent about half an hour looking at many different watches, and ended up buying an Oris TT1 Day/Date. Huge props to Nate, mentioning his name got me a GREAT deal I'm very happy with.
It was kind of funny, I walked in wearing a polo shirt and jeans. I don't think anyone there thought I was going to buy something until I started asking about specific models.

Oris or Hamilton.
They use the same movement as many of the higher end watches, and you're getting into a nice automatic for $4-600. IMO, way classier than a quartz Tag, but much cheaper.
Oh, and if you're ever up in Pasadena, go see Abby at Boutique Du Temps on Fair Oaks and Colorado

I got 2 Tag personally, and love them! one is a F1 and the other one is a classic 2000 both of them are chorno and very well made watches. Next will be a Rolex Submariner.

Are you seriously going to tell me that a $1000 watch has no place in a collection?
a stamp collection, art collection, coin collection....all imply a sense of history, time, originality and value.
a $1000 watch doesn't impart any of those characteristics.

That watch looks very nice and classy.
