Help - $ vs. Health - any help appreciated
SO.... i used to enjoy acting like a jackass on this board and I had owned a handfull of S2000's through the years..... then life took a shit...... I am now divorced, stressed and ****ed up....and i make significantly less $ than before...
I get paid a decent amount at my current job (i am the controller of a manufacturing plant)....BUT... i absolutely hate it. I do not talk to anyone (of the 10 other office people more than half are on prozac) and I am not adding anything to the world......(i am also out of the slum lord business)....
anyway..... do i stay here and go insane even more with everyone else, or do I just go find a $30k job doing something that I enjoy (hopefully contributing to society) and roll the dice that something neat will happen.... (i do have at least $75k in savings that I can use for a while)....
THE LEAP OF FAITH..... YA or NAY...????
lately i have been one pissed off person... maybe a final divorce causes this? reduced income? i act like myself when around other retards like JFO, TINKFIST and EJO but otherwise i am a glummy motha ****a lately!!!!!
<--still the best smiley....

If you don't mind dipping into your savings while looking for another job, I'd take that route. Doubt you'd touch much of it looking for another job anyway. Sounds like you need to time off.
And why take a $30k job doing something you love when you could find one making $100k doing something you love?

^i wish I could find one making $100k doing something I love.....
I currently am stuck with child support, some alimony and having to pay for my kids health insurance.... so my savings will drop semi quickly unless something decent happens....
I can feel my ****** chest always hurting sitting here though.....
Dead and have $ or hopefully alive and possibly be on food stamps???

That $75k doesn't sound like its bringing your any happiness, so I don't see any reason not to make use of it in a search for something that DOES make you happy. (For me, money is a means to an end, not an ultimate goal.)
See if you can turn your manufacturing experience and racing interest into a job at USF1?

^ that is kind of my thinking..... so if i have a freaking heart attack and die with $75k in cash in the bank, then it was all for nothing....... i can live a full year on $75k including paying my ex wife all the $ (assuming the courts don't like the idea of me quiting)....
Our annual audit is going to be here and done in the next 3 weeks so I am thinking about cutting my hours back to half time (if they allow) or walking if they don't.....

It's because you sold your race car....
Nobody said you have to enjoy your job. There was that recent poll that said most people are unhappy with their jobs. In this economy, I wouldn't just quit yet. Maybe go 0.8 time and use the extra time to do more volunteering or get your foot into the door of a field that you do enjoy.

I am actually contemplating leaving my job (Senior Accountant of 5 years). I just finished my BBA in accting and could prob go elsewhere and make more. I hate the ppl I work with and it has made me more and more miserable. With that being said I dont know if I would leave and risk taking a paycut. Go find something you like that pays more

I think it's expected that going through some pretty serious life issues that leave you somewhere other than where you thought you'd be, are going to make you a bitter MF for at least a while.
Go find some stuff you like to do in your personal time, including activites that contribute back to society so you feel you're adding value to the world, and keep you eyes open for a new career path that will take you to the happiness.
Good Luck Scot
