How did you meet your significant other?
I'm just curious as to how everyone that has a gf or married met each other. I myself am still single, and still young (24) but sometimes worry that college was my best bet due to the number of people on a campus and your chances of meeting someone. I'm sure some of you have met on some weird instances, which is what I'm betting on now. I am keeping my hopes up that someone will come along but I have not been impressed by anyone I've met in a while. So lets hear your stories and give a single brother hope!
We met playing volleyball at the local community college. She was wearing a Ferreri t-shirt and I told her that she was late. She said that, no, she wasn't late, she was early for the next class.
Three months later we were engaged.
Eight months after that we were married.
As of last month we've been married 24 years.

Magician, your story is fabulous!!
I have heard +/- on the online dating thing. One girl I know has been doing it for 10 years, needless to say she is still looking.....another girl I know is getting married to someone she met 2 years ago. So, like everything else, you just have to try it and it may, or may not be for you.
Mine is as such..... I was out with some of my girlfriends and was bored out of my mind. (Dont like going to bars very much) and I noticed some of the guys I work with at the end of the bar. So, I whent down to them and said
. I chatted for a while and in the conversation, they asked/found out that I was single ( I had been engaged before and I had broken it off a while ago prior but had not made a public announcement of it as I actually wanted a break!) and my BF now, at the time, was sitting right next to me and was like "your single?" I replied "yes
" and he stated "How can that be?" and I replied because you all had married me off already!!! Needless to say, It has almost been a year (with a 2 months or so -time out this summer-) and it is great. I work in a very large Hospital so really had only seen him a couple of times and just new his name.
They say everything happens in your life for a reason. I always used to have a negativity about that saying, but now I kind of believe it.
*Lesson* Never go looking for it, if you do, you will dissapoint only yourself. It will come when you least expect it
Mine did anyways
Good luck!
BTW~ HE even has an S2000 also, isnt that neat?

So here's my story. I'm 25 Years old and just arrived in the US for a 6 month work contract. There are 6 six of us and we decide to check out the local night clubs/bars. We end up at one where there are some backgammon tables (thinking back now this seems kind of a strange thing to have in a night club
)
so we grab one and start playing/watching the scenery
As the night progresses its gets busier in the bar and to get past the tables requires a bit of a wait. One girl who is waiting to get past. Looks at us all and says in a sarcastic tone. "Gee that looks fun".
Move forward 6 months. Having spent them exclusively hanging out with the "girl with the sarcastic comment" I have to return back to England and my old job. This doesn't sit well with us both. I return back and immediately start looking for a job in the US. As luck would have it I am able to find one. Even luckier the job is actaully back in the same city. It takes 7 months to get everything sorted (visa/selling belonging etc.) I arrive back in the US and move in with "girl with the sarcastic comment" with the view "lets see how it goes".
Move forward 1 month. I have by now decided this is the one and propose. She accepts !!!
Move forward 5 months. One saturday we drive down to South of the Border/Dillon SC (We live in Raleigh NC btw) to a place called the Wedding Chapel. They perform 5000 wedding a year !! So we get married in 5 minutes
and jump back in the car and drive home. A few weeks later we honeymoon in Key West.
Move forward a year. We have a full wedding ceremony in the "girl with the sarcastic comment"s home town with all family/friends from both sides. We then honeymoon in Aruba.
Move forward 11 Years. Two kids later we're still very happily marriied

I wasn't looking to find someone. Matter of fact I was purposely NOT looking to get into a relationship.
You see I was 20. Fresh out of the Army and wanting like hell to get my College Degree. I had planned to go to Australia (grew up in South America) to study, maybe get a Masters or PHd and get the hell back to Bogota as soon as possible. Believe it or not I always thought dating got in the way of my studies (Iknow, it is weird thinking for a 20YO hormone loaded guy).
But not knowing anyone I ended up hanging with this guy who has just come out of the Singaporean Army, exchanging stories and such. So he invites me to the Singapore Club Annual Bash. I am thinking 'What the heck! meet new people, etc".
She was one of the organizers. I was sitting facing away from her and just heard her laugh... that was it! Didn't even need to see her... I just had to get to know this girl. So I joined the Singapore club the next day.
We dated 4 years (We both agreed that was as far as we wanted to go withough both getting our undergrads). Once that was out of the way we moved in together (much to her parents disapproval). A couple of weeks later I found out that work was going to bring me to the US for at least six months. We got married the next month (two months before coming over). That was 7 1/2 years ago.
BTW... the relationship DID get in the way of my studies... a couple of Bs should have been As and some Cs should not have been there... But I ain't complaining :-)

Haha....
Like magician.... I met my wife playing volleyball as well. I was there early with a friend warming up and ended up playing rec ball with her as the setter.... later I offered to teach her how to set as a joke(even though I'm a better setter). Things progressed... 8 years later(it was freshman year in college for me, so give it some time) we marry and now we've known/been together for almost 11 years.
oh.. btw... we've both gotten to be better players... but I'm still a better setter than her
