Blind date, sort of!- A coworker set me up with her best friend, because she thought I was a nice guy who worked to hard (she didn't know me that well ). Well the day of the date she calls me up to cancel the date. I said "fine doesn't matter". A few hours later, I get a call from my coworker again saying that her best friend needed a favor. She found a dead cat in her driveway and needs it removed. Ok weird request but fine, nothing else planned that day since the previous plans were cancelled. I pick up my coworker drive to her house. She comes out, points to the cat and asks that I get rid of it. I look at her and the first thing out of my mouth was "Umm, do you think I could get gloves or something?" She goes inside gets me a couple of plastic bags, I use them as gloves, scoop up the cat and dump it in a nearby sewer drain. When I get back to her house my she says thanks and we leave. On the way back to drop off my coworker. She let's me know that her friend is grateful and feels bad that she made me go through all the trouble. So if I wanted to we could still have our date. Like, I said no previous plans so why not? She wasn't ugly by any stretch of the imagination. So we go out and have a pretty good time. Now fast forward a few years and we've been happily married for a year and a half and we have a happy healthy son.

So I guess cats are good for something!

We had known of each other for years through common friends, but had never actually met. Then her husband started screwing around with my recent ex-fiance. (it's a very small town) We finally met a few weeks later at the bar where she worked one night and discussed our common link. A few days later I called her to go out, and almost seven years later, we are still together, albeit a little worse for the wear.

well i met the wife in a club on fat tuesday, ended up getting blown off by her that night, oh well. few days later im stopping by to say hi to one of my friends at work, turns out that he is her boss. anyway, it turns out thats shes really quiet and kind of shy. so she does something really out of character and comes by my work later and says "here is my number, you know you want it". i call her a couple days later and we end up going out. come back to my house that night, and its really late, so she just crashes there. next night, same story. after about a week she finally brings enough stuff over that she doesnt have to run home every day for clothes. after about a month she is officially moved in. 14 months later we are engaged, and finally a year after that we are married. that was 8 months ago. now thats the long story, short story is that she came over my place and never left. i would have to say its one of those stories where you just meet the right person and you know that she is the one. before i met her i was going out 6 night a week with different girls, and never would have dreamed that i would be engaged a year later. but from the time i met her, i was a changed person.

on another note, the s2000 was her dream car, and i had hardly even heard of it at the time, needless to say it didnt take much convinceing from her for me to go get one after i learned more about it.

glad to hear all these stories, so far things don't look so bad really, and good luck to everyone who has already found someone.

I met my gf when we were 9 years old in elementary school. Our teacher assigned us seats at the same table. One morning she came into class and pulled out the chair to sit down next to me as usual. So what did I do to get her attention, the only logical thing for a 9 year old to do. I kicked the chair out from under her and SLAM! She landed right on her ass. She immediately began to cry. And I

Yeah, definitely great topic and great stories.

I went to a Sushi joint in DC (really nice place BTW) w/ my co-worker Shari. She was invited by some ppl she knew, but the problem was she was not interested in one particular guy, so I was her fake/play date. While I was there, a cute young blond walked in and was mingling w/ her friend, same group that invited Shari. So, I turned to Shari and asked, "Hey, Shari, is she cute?" (Well, I had about 4-5 glasses of wine by then), and then Shari said, "Yeah, she's cute." (Shari watches out for me).
So, I walked over and started talking to the cute blond, Gina. It turns out she just took her bar exam that day, and the odd thing was, I had a blind date that I was supposed to attend that weekend (3 days later) with an attorney. So, that was my conversation starter. And somewhere in the conversation I asked Gina, "What do you think about dating an asian guy..."
She's now an attorney in DC and an avid runner (she's training for her 3rd Boston marathon, I think), and she's 25 and I'm 28. We been together now for almost 5 months. We're planning to move in together sometime in Feb/March this year. (BTW, I called it off w/ the blind date and was out w/ Gina that weekend)

Before Gina, all my relationships were college/grad school related.
