Put some foam or cheescloth under the card board or the wheel face can get "marks". I baught a pristine set of OEM wheels with tires and although they looked brand new, there were marks from the cardboard on the spokes almost like swirls. I could not polishe them out either. It was not a big problem as I had them powder coated.

i shipped some tires/ wheels with old tee shirts in between the wheel and the cardboard.... but i have received wheels with cardboard scratches....
