"Where you want to be" = "Price willing to pay" = Happiness
One cannot be higher than the other. If where you want to be is high but not willing to put the effort, then it won't work. Or vice versa, if you're putting a lot of effort if where you want to be is low, you won't be happy either.

Other than that, Women, Cars, Money, Food, and Good times work for me, especially if it's all together!

proper grammar makes me happy, so the title of this thread makes me sad

I guess I'll be serious now. I would say overall I'm a happy person, although from the outside I don't really show it. Most people think I'm depressed or pissed off all the time because I'm quiet and I don't smile all the time, but I'm really in a good mood. The way I stay happy is to not let things get to me, mostly at work. I'm always going to have a**hole customers so instead of taking everything personaly, I just brush it off (I can thank my dad for that one, he yells/yelled at me almost every day of my life). Even when I'm feeling down I just try to look for the best in the situation. And if I'm really down, there's always beer .

I don't think there is any way to train yourself to be happier, it's just part of your personality. I'm lucky enough to have a mellow, laid back approach to life, so being and staying happy come easy to me.

i am generally a pretty happy person except when my a-hole tenants f' up my houses....

My kids make me very happy....I like being around them..... like rednecks, we all sit in the front of my truck instead of 1 in the back (it is a crewcab)... kind of silly but makes me happy that they want to be semi near me.

I always trying to act stupid (or do whatever it takes) to make other people laugh, etc... I try to bring happiness to the Mindcore's of central PA.

overall my happiness in life is probably a 7.5 out of 10....hopefully moving up soon......

i have just moved out of my house into my own condo.... i am hoping to find some happiness with a new person at some point. My wife and I have "co-existed" for about 8 years now... not happy....

nice thread.....

Try getting happy by looking forward to things. I agree that achieving the goal is not as fulfilling as the actual pursuit, but what you have to do is pick long range goals that hold your interest. For instance, if I am in a slump, I'll think about the house I am saving for and how I am going to pimp out the garage. Or I'll start planning a vacation to Chile that I'll take 10 years from now. If all else fails, 10mg Lexapro FTW

it's interesting that many say that they know that when they reach the goal, it wont be that great, but you still pursue it. how very evolved.

in addition to the original question, what things do you buy to do that give you lasting happiness?

and if someone wasn't too happy, do you think they'd admit it here?

not much i can think of in which you buy to receive lasting happiness. more or less its for the memories you have with it... maybe a house.... hmmm i normally have no intention when buying an item for it to give me any lasting happiness other than the near-mid future

cars, girls, food, hobbies.... i like to live for the moment and experience alot of new things

and to the whole "rat running on a wheel" idea...

it seems that sums up life for the most part... however ... i'd like to look back someday and say I had the best damn time running on that wheel
