how do "window" companies actually sucker people?
It is much easier to educate yourself now but years ago when these companies got started they were the only source of information. So a high pressure salesman walks in and wastes 3-4 hours of your time. How many more 3-4 hour presentations do you want to sit through? Sometimes the cops were called to get them out of your living room and they preyed on old folks.
BTW, the window company I do the advertising for started with a no pressure approx 45 minute quote with no call backs unless agreed to. His closing ratio is 69 percent. The industry as a whole in Columbus right now is at roughly 30 percent. There is plenty of room in the market to be a decent human being and make a living.

in the thousands of percent.
glass, in case you didn't know, is CHEAP, sold by the pound (or kilogram). but anytime you put ANY kind of modification on it, it's expensive.
i'm not saying the markup is wrong by the way, the markup is there to cover distribution, loss (up to 20%), waste (8~10%), storage, and the little labor it takes to make a hole in the mirror or cutting it smaller.
