How do you dress?
express - great cuts/fits (im slim), but stale homogenous designs and poor quality (especially tops... bad dye they use)
banana republic - more boring designs. same clothing year in and year out. and i cannot fit into a single item there. somehow pants have boxy rears and are extremely shorts for their size (just like their sister gap)
fashion is not big on my list, but when i want something casual i buy Guess (and Guess Outlet). they have normal "street" clothing with a little detail here or there that sets it apart.
i associate "grown up wear" with turning more towards function than fashion, so a lot of stuff i have are outdoors company like REI/Bean, from established retailers with solid guarantees like LandsEnd/EBauer, shoe brands like Memphisto/Born/Ecco
and for work, its all Brooks Brothers, all the time

you have to throw away your "suits" because you fall into fads. did you have a silver 4-button suit, as if you were charles barkley on a tnt broadcast? that might explain it
that navy blue tailored 2-button? it'll last forever.

if you think that's style, i can't help you.

In Toronto, I say hit up Tom's Place for suits and decent clothes of whatever brand. Bought a couple suits there last time I was in town and I'm real happy with em. I'm not pro enough to shop at Harry or the other big names.
I am all Brooks Bros head to toe for work. Suits, ties, shirts, socks, boxers, umbrella, hats, and even their cologne. For shoes I wear Johnston & Murphy however.
At home, I wear BB polos, rugby's and sweaters after work with Old Navy jeans (I love their jeans...soooo effin comfortable.) I have quite a few random t-shirts as well from all over the place (Pacific Sunwear, Polo, Old Navy, Gap, etc.)
For the gym and exercise I am a straight up Nike man, but I also own some New Balance sneakers because they are made in America.

Interesting thread! I have found myself gravitating more toward "grown up" looking clothes (sweaters and collared shirts etc). I've come to view my old style as more "sloppy" and it's weird; I could never picture myself wearing more mature clothing just a few years ago.
I think my style transition had a lot to do with my first taste of the working world this past summer and of course a small nudge from my girlfriend who is a J. Crew fanatic!

To all the Canadians....where does Don Cherry shop? I want to buy a get-up like him for Halloween next year.
His suits are all custom made these days. One of guys who used to work for my dad showed up at the office one day wearing a yellow suit, bragging that it was made from the leftover material (he was a very tiny fellow) of one of Cherry's suits . My dad had to sit him down and ask if he thought there was any chance he'd be taken seriously by clients in that outfit. My dad felt bad because he'd just dropped an arm and a leg on it, but it was just ridiculous and unprofessional.
If you honestly want, I can find out where they come from.
