Default How do you work out?

One thing I've noticed about being a car enthusiast is that you don't get much exercise out of it.

I've always been an athlete -- first rowing on crew teams, then training for karate competition, now...?!

Well, my professional life is causing a lull in my physical life. I still row on a Concept II machine that I keep in my apartment, and I walk all the time (being in New York). I haven't gained any weight since High School, but...I can see it starting to creep up on me.

I'm curious. How do you all stay in shape?

My work has a gym, so I usually go work out for about a half hour before my lunch break. It's free, its convenient. I just do bench, curls, tricep extensions, abs, etc.

My gym is on my way home from work. If I got the chance to go home, I'd be more susceptable to flaking. No matter WHAT, you gotta try and MAKE time for exercise. I was a PT before and also have participated in many sports. You're right though, now with work and all, it is hard to find time to do all the things I used to. Usually I just like to chill on the weekends and prepare myself for the following week.

I was just wondering about this stuff last night -- to do some muscle buildup, do you have to eat a certain way or take that Metrix stuff, or can u simply just do a lot of reps of crunches, squats, and bicep/tricep exercises a day? And do you have to breathe a certain way?

I think weightlifting is overrated. My experience is that some of the fastest, most powerful and impressive people are quite "small".

I build muscle very easily (too easily) -- I know it sounds weird to people that are small, but I don't like getting stocky. I'd rather be lean and mean.

I think it's better to be fit than big. Also, many girls are turned off by puffy, topheavy guys with pins for legs.

I usually workout at 8:30 - 9:00pm 4 days a week. I go home, grab some grub, rest or wash my car, then head out to the gym. I hate going to the gym when there are tons of people, thus I workout pretty late. I also feel stronger and more active at night.

I usually workout for about an hour and a half, but since I've started to do abs and run after lifting weights. It usually last longer. I don't get home until 11:30 or so, thus I don't go to bed until 1 or 2 am. Then I get up bright and earlier at 7:45am. It's the price I've got to pay to look and feel better.

how much do you all bench when you were in your top shape?
I never maxed out, but a year and a half ago, I would throw 225lbs up 15 times. So, I'm guessing nearly 300lbs. I don't really do alot of chest anymore, presently I concentrate more on shoulders and back.

Also, playing hoops, flag-football, and softball (yes, softball, I suck, so I just run around the outfield trying to get the ball) helps with the cardio too, but I haven't done that in awhile.

I'm getting back into it again, b/c I feel weak. This past month i've been hanging around other S2000s at night and driving around aimlessly.

You folks will appreciate this. I had to move my motorcycle and free weight equipment when I bought Melissa so I built a metal storage (10X12) building in the back yard. I work out four times a week, afternoons, split routine different body parts each day. The bi*ch is the heat. When it's 95 degrees outside that metal room is really hot. I'm dedicated though and never miss a workout. I also believe weight training should be augmented with aerobic excercise, but prefer the anaerobic bodybuilding.

I workout 3 days a week lifting weights. Different body parts for each day following a push/pull routine.

I find that it helps with the stress of work and everyday life. I don't know how many times I used stress as a motivation tool to get that one last rep done.

I've seen 9000RPM, and he's one big asian MO'FO. Much bigger than I am.
