How long does it take

hence the rolling.
If you roll a can on ice the heat transfer increses ie. the surface area of the can will transfer heat to the ice.
I don't know how to say that in nerd speak:
S2020, where are you?

instead, rolling of the can allows faster heat exchange through creation of current in the soda.
damn, I love physics.

I typoed
should've said minute instead of almost. I knew someone would comment, especially after quoting myself. Double fail.

The keys are really close together, okay jerk?
It was one of those where you type what you're thinking instead of what makes sense.
An easy trick to cool a can of soda is to place it under cold running water (from your tap) for a minute or two. As long as you have decently cold water, it will cool the drink fairly quickly. Since the water keeps running, it doesn't suffer from heat soak and so you get a consistently cool flow with very little temperature change.
An ice bath is definitely the best thing to use but I don't know how practical that is much of the time. A faucet with cold water is usually readily available...

If you "prefer" the taste of Diet Dr. Pepper, cool.

When I'm at the fountain I mix diet and regular DP half and half. That way I get all the DP flavor but with half the calories so I can drink twice as much!
Diet Coke tastes like pee and Caffeine free Diet coke tastes like bitter pee.

I think the fastest way to get a cold soda is to get one out of the soda machine

If you really want to make it cold fast is get a bucket of ice and some cold water dump a load of salt and put the soda in there and within a few min its colder than freezing temp.
