it is insane.... once in a while someone will stumble accross an unopened pile of 1974 hotwheels that each one is worth over $1k.... purple, pink are the most expensive colors of each care (in general).
I wish my parents had set aside 50 redline hotwheels from that era,....they were like $.49 i think..... so $25.00 then = $50k-100k now.

Toys nowadays are made of cheap plastic and are mostly product placement from crappy cartoons. You'll never see those shiny die-cast metal toys again. If a toy does come along that could be worth something, geeks will be lining up weeks ahead to get their hands on it They will keep it in a safe box, never to see light for another 20-30 years. This happened with the last line of Star Wars movie action figures. It was pretty much all over the news.

here is an insane example.
$3k bidding so far.

the highest any hotwheel sold for is ~$70k. a pink rear loading beachbomb (vw bus). it was a prototype that was found after a mattel engineer died.
I had a Porsche collection. I had maybe 20 old redline 917's that ranged in price from $10-$600.00.... I sold all of the expensive ones and still have about 500 loose different porsches that are all nearly worthless...

The good ol' days will never happen again. Toys R' Us is going bankrupt, leading to the conclusion that kids are no longer interested in toys. They go online and join forums under the name 2HEATY.
