Would someone please please define 'rice'

Been reading this board for a few months now - followed up some the links - but every time I think I have arrived at understanding - I find I have not! It's getting to me.

Is it like beauty - in the eye of the beholder? - or what?

 

I think it's generally considered to mean a car (usually Japanese, but recently applying to more US built cars) that is altered beyond good taste. Thus it's subjective, what is rice to 1 person is cool to another. Examples of Rice include:

- Type R stickers on anything other than a Type R Honda (one of the most common)
- Excessive stickers, period
- Excessively large wings on vehicles which have no use for rear downforce (ie Civics)
- Bodykits (or other body modifications) that completely alter the appearance of the vehicle, or alter it to mimic a different vehicle

Again, it's really quite subjective... I know a few board members have been called Ricers due to certain modifications they made to their S2000.
